About the Indian Pariah Dog
The Indian Pariah Dog (also known as the Desi Dog or INDog) is one of the oldest dog breeds in existence, dating back over 4,500 years. Naturally evolved for the Indian subcontinent, they are extremely hardy, disease-resistant, and low-maintenance. Adopting a Desi dog is the most sustainable choice for Indian families.
Temperament
Highly independent thinker. Bonds deeply with family but wary of strangers. Rarely barks without reason โ an excellent natural watchdog.
Care & Grooming
Short coat requires almost no grooming โ a weekly brush is sufficient. Naturally active; daily walks of 30โ45 minutes keep them healthy. Exceptional immunity but stay current on deworming, tick prevention, and core vaccines.
Nutritional Needs
Low dietary requirements compared to imported breeds. Quality kibble or home-cooked rice + chicken/paneer meals work well. Avoid overly rich food. Feed 1.5โ2 cups dry food twice daily for a 15 kg dog.
