Quick Stats
About the Beagle
Beagles are sturdy, compact dogs that adapt well to Indian apartment living — provided they get enough exercise. Their powerful nose means they follow scents relentlessly, so a secure garden or leash walks are essential. Their baying howl can be loud, which neighbours may not appreciate.
Temperament
Scent-driven and easily distracted by smells. Can be stubborn and selective about commands. Rarely aggressive; excellent with children.
Care & Grooming
Short coat is easy to maintain — weekly brush suffices. Clean long ears weekly to prevent infections. Exercise 45–60 min daily. Use puzzle feeders to satisfy their active mind. Train with high-value treats for best results.
Nutritional Needs
Prone to obesity — strict portion control is critical. 1–1.5 cups dry kibble daily split into two meals. Avoid table scraps entirely. High-fibre food options help them feel full longer.
